Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
December 9th, 2025 by Gemma

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
