Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
