Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
July 19th, 2021 by Gemma

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
