Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
January 13th, 2021 by Gemma

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
