Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
May 15th, 2020 by Gemma

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players around the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
