Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
December 13th, 2019 by Gemma

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
