Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
August 19th, 2019 by Gemma

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
