[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
