Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
November 12th, 2015 by Gemma

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
