[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
