[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
