I have been playing poker now for about five years, I have played cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever game we were betting and even though I liked to call it skill, it was extremely hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a protracted run of luck.

Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas hold’em Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the sixties and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is absolutely the new black, it’s super cool with a lot of of the world’s leading superstars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels these days and you can not escape from poker, and naturally there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for every individual gambler.

So with all of this fresh discovered popularity, with so several Television shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?

Perhaps I really should not receive so worked up about this, after all the a lot more men and women who wrestle with the delicate techniques and approaches needed for winning consistently at Texas hold’em, the better it is for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to look at all of the offered information about why position is so important, why must we bother? We should just be happy there’s an additional fish at the table!

It is true, we need to not encourage procrastination with advice and support. Nevertheless, I liken this to a friendly game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so high, but when you observe a player having difficulties, you assist them, offer them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a method to get pleasure from, love and appreciate the game as much as you. I’m asking all house gamblers to do the same thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite grasped the nuances of betting position. Guide them to grow their respect for the game. Of course, don’t attempt to try this one in your neighborhood betting house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you teaching their meal how to swim!
